December 1, 2017…Elkhorn, Wisconsin … Wade Williams Named 2017 REALTOR® of the Year.
During this year-end banquet season, programs and speeches can become lengthy. On December 1 at Hawk’s View Golf Club the leadership of Lakes Area Realtors® Association chose to keep the program brief, focusing on the holiday season and serving the local communities.
With just these two words: “Happy Friday!” the 2017 Lakes Area Realtor® of the Year was revealed as Wade Williams, manager of the Century 21 Affiliated office in Delavan (WI). “Wade radiates positivity in his smile, words and actions,” says Becky Merwin, newly installed 2018 president. She explains, “When our CEO Denise Schultz used his trademark greeting of saying, “Happy” followed by the day of the week, anyone who knows Wade realized he was the well deserving winner. His greeting brings smiles to many, and has caught on in our association.”
“Wade came to our organization a few years ago as what we refer to as a secondary member, already having been a long time primary member of a neighboring association,” explains Schultz. “He had been a respected leader in the Beloit/Janesville area and we were fortunate he was willing to step up to serve here,” she adds. In fact, Williams was recently appointed to the Board of Directors at the state level of the Wisconsin Realtors® Association as well. “Although sometimes there are concerns that active volunteers can become overextended, we have no concerns with Wade,” Schultz says with confidence. “He is focused, motivated and is one of those individuals that appears to wake up each day committed to making the world a better place. And he does.” Williams teaches a half day new member orientation course to all new members joining the association, and does it with a gifted combination of humor and professionalism. He is highly respected by his colleagues and an asset to the communities he serves. The annual Realtor of the Year award is nominated by members and voted upon by a private committee, revealing the winner at the year-end banquet. Criteria does not include sales records, but instead what the individual does personally above and beyond their licensed role to serve the community.
